Burgman S-16 Dual Function Running Lights/Flashing Brake Lights
Installation Instructions:
Contents: 16 LED module; Hyper-Lite flasher module; 3 red tap in connectors
Tools Needed: 6mm Allen Wrench; Phillips head screwdriver.
Do not attempt to test the flasher. If you have an installation problem please call 888-770-1010 for assistance. Do not strip any wires. If the blue and brown
wires contact each other (blue to brown) after the gray and black wires are connected, the flasher circuitry will be destroyed and void your warranty. Most
installation problems involve wire connections, not faulty parts.
Note: The RED Hyper-Lite wire must be connected between the brake light switch and the brake light bulb(s).
1. The flasher is set to flash continuously as long as the brake is applied. To convert to a 5 second flash and then go
solid as long as the brake is applied, cut the green wire loop coming out of the flasher. Use electrical tape to protect
and secure the green wires to the other wires.
2. Raise the seat.
3. Remove the bottom trim piece on the backrest or luggage rack.
4. Remove the bottom plastic cover from the rear of the bike by removing the two retaining clips under the sides of the cover, then pulling
straight down then back.
5. Remove the backrest. First remove the two retaining clips from the front trim piece (See figure 6). Pull the front pad straight ahead until it
pops off. Remove the Phillips head screws from the backrest frame. Remove the backrest back pad.
6. Remove the backrest frame by removing the three 6mm Phillips head bolts. (see Figure 2).
7. Remove the retaining clips from the top cover. Remove the top cover. The Hyper-Lite LED module mounts on this cover.
8. Clean the top of the top cover with alcohol. Center the Hyper-Lite LED module right to left. Make sure the backrest or luggage rack
will clear the back of the module. Remove the blue covering and mount the light module. Apply firm pressure for 5 seconds. (See
Figure 1 and Figure 2).
9. Set aside the top piece with the LED module mounted on it.
10. Pull the taillight/brake light bulb assembly out of the housing and let it dangle.
11. Clean the top of the right tail light assembly behind the lens with alcohol. Mount the Hyper-Lite flasher module on the cleaned
area. Point the plain end to the right and rear of the bike. Point the end with wires to the left and front, making sure the wires
do not block the turn signal bulb base. (See figure 3) Thread the Red, Gray, and Black wires down behind the turn signal
assembly so the ends hang next to the taillight/brake light bulb assembly.
12. Connect the Hyper-Lite flasher module RED wire to the WHITE with BLACK stripe brake light +12 Volts (positive)
wire using one of the red Tap-In Squeeze connectors supplied. (See Figure 4) Connect the Hyper-Lite GRAY wire to
the GRAY taillight +12 Volts (positive) wire using one of the Tap-In Squeeze connectors supplied. (See Figure 4).
Connect the Hyper-Lite BLACK wire to the BLACK with WHITE stripe negative ground wire that goes to the brake
light(s) using the remaining red Tap-In Squeeze connector. (See Figure 4). Reinstall the bulb assembly.
13. Connect the Blue wire bullet connectors. Connect the Brown wire bullet connectors. Tuck the Blue and Brown wires
away neatly so that the wires will not be compromised by reassembly.
14. Choose either the continuous-flashing-when-braking mode (default) or clip the green wire loop on the flasher to
initiate the 5 second flash then solid mode (recommended). Protect the ends of the green wire with electrical tape.
15. Lay the top cover in place without installing. Thread the Blue and Brown wires from the light module down to the
flasher. Connect the Blue and Brown wire bullet connectors from the LED module to the flasher. Blue to Blue.
Brown to Brown. Tuck all wires neatly away, making sure the wires will not be pinched by reassembly.
16. Reinstall the top cover.
17. Turn on the ignition. Make sure the Hyper-Lite module is lit. Have a friend apply the brakes while you stand behind
the scooter. The Hyper-Lite module will double in intensity and flash. If you have chosen the 5 second mode make
sure the Hyper-Lite returns to solid bright mode after the 5 seconds of flashing.
18. Reinstall the lower cover.
19. Lay the top gasket on the top cover over the Hyper-Lite wires. Reinstall the backrest frame. Make sure the front bolt assembly does not pinch the Hyper-Lite
wires. (See Figure 2). Reinstall the rear backrest pad. (See Figure 5). Reinstall the backrest front pad. Reinstall the backrest front trim piece (See Figure 6).
20. Lower the seat. Thanks for choosing Hyper-Lites. Ride Safe.
